Proposed theme for 2025 residency projects: «Landscape and Agriculture»
Since its creation in 1786, the Bergerie nationale has been a place dedicated to experimentation and innovation in agriculture located in the exceptional setting of the forest of Rambouillet. The agricultural land is at the heart of a 1000 hectare estate preserved from human presence for nearly 250 years and rich in a landscape, faunistic and floristic diversity. Today, the agroecological exploitation of the national sheepfold takes full advantage of the omnipresence of nature and the landscape alternation of the site, set up for shared use between forestry, agriculture and hunting, preserving a great biodiversity.
The creation residence
This call is open to all professional artists or teams whose artistic project corresponds to the thematic questioning proposed for 2025.
All artistic disciplines are eligible (visual art, sculpture, dance, theatre, writing,...) and without nationality condition (mastery of the French language mandatory).
The artist or artists involved ensure to organize mediation actions with the different people who share the place, on the occasion of exhibitions, events or performances that are as many opportunities to present the approach and the project.
Objectives of the creation residency
During four months, this residency is an opportunity for the artist or team to create an original creation. Their presence is part of a global development dynamic that gives visitors, staff and students unprecedented opportunities to access and participate in the cultural life of the territory.
At the end of the project, an artistic form depicting the work carried out throughout the residency is proposed on the occasion of one or more events co-organized with the Bergerie Nationale. These conditions will be determined when the agreement is signed.
Duration of the creation residency
4 months between February 2025 and July 2025
The Mission Residence
As part of its mission to promote culture and train future citizens, the training centre of the Bergerie nationale wishes to welcome an artist or artistic team for four months, starting in September 2025. This artistic and cultural residency aims to participate in the development of arts and cultural education, build a collaboration between professionals in the arts and culture professions, educational teams, young people, their families, to deepen partnerships and create new interactions in the territory of Rambouillet.
For the artist-in-residence, the project leaves a great place to meet, immerse and share. The artist’s challenge is to establish a relationship with learners and trainers, based on understanding and experience of a creative process. His intervention should allow to experiment what the creative process is (research, inspiration, concept, approach, orientations, materialization, technique, result) and the different tools available. For this, the artist-resident must articulate mediation and production. Through practice, he or she proposes an intervention framework that can create a dialogue with each one, around his or her own skills and/or experiences. Its exchanges will allow people to question their own resources in terms of expression, freedom of creation and feed the process of co-construction.
