A festival for all
Méliscènes' programming is spread in 11 municipalities in the Auray country. The festival is organized by Athena, territory scene of Auray/ La Trinité-sur-Mer with the collaboration of Theatre à la Coque in Hennebont, labeled national puppet center in 2022, and the Trio... S, territory scene of Inzinzac-Lochrist/ Hennebont.
Often wrongly considered as reserved for children, puppet and object theatre shows are intended for all audiences, including adults. One of the shows is even recommended from the age of 16, four others are without words and thus cross the barriers of the language.
The program proposes this year 23 shows in 68 performances.
In addition to the shows themselves, the festival organizes a participatory creation, The Cabin at Plume(s), which more than 2,000 residents have helped prepare since last November. Exhibitions, thematic workshops, a participatory fresco, a radio coverage with Radio Balises and a closing evening on March 23 are also offered.
A meeting for professionals is held on March 20. Organized by Spectacle Vivant en Bretagne, it provides an update on the ongoing study on the puppet landscape in Brittany, initiated by the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Brittany. This day will also allow professionals to meet two Breton companies: Tro Héol (Martial Anton and Daniel Calvo-Funès) and Nids Dhom (Lisa Lacombe) for a presentation of their next creations.
